CHELSA’s Exco extends heartfelt congratulations to recently retired Director of Libraries at CPUT, Professor Elisha Chiware, on receiving THENSA’s (Technological Higher Education Network South Africa) Leadership Achievement Award.
This award recognises exemplary leaders who leave an enduring legacy through sustained contributions and a “significant impact on the advancement of Technology-Focused Higher Education in South Africa, Namibia, and beyond”.
Prof Chiware’s impressive career includes the development of CPUT’s Research Data Infrastructure, securing certification of its institutional repository, eSANGO, as a Trusted Digital Repository and CPUT’s membership of the World Data System, initiating and leading South Africa’s National Higher Education Library Statistics Database, and serving as Lead Technical Architect and Chairperson of the Research Data Management and Open Science Working Group for the ILIFU Data Intensive Research Project and Secretary General and Executive Board Member of the International Association of University Libraries (IATUL).
